the (majorly) “slightly” film-obsessed wind friend

MY STORY • LUCIA FAHMY

photographer, artist, director,
world wanderer, & wind friend

❛ Remember, you will never live a moment under the same sky twice ❜

Hey there, I’m Lu — a photographer, artist, and director based in Egypt.

From a very young age, the abstract world of “art” has been my home and my calling — my ikigai. My photography journey has started ever since middle school and has grown to become an extension of my soul and a lifestyle. I captured all that intrigues me, and all that makes me long for a little bit more time in this world. Photography was never just about taking pictures to me, but a soulful exploration of the world, a mindful appreciation of its intricacies — a way of witnessing life’s poetry presently. I studied and graduated with a BFA in Cinema/TV Directing from a college focused on filmmaking in Los Angeles. My education and experiences in that field, alongside my past jobs in film labs, make me quite the nerd and intentional film & photography artist that you know today.

In 2019, I bought my first (and favorite) 35mm film camera,
the Pentax K1000. My film diary started there and has not stopped since.

lil
facts
about
me

I'm very attracted to and inspired by the cottagecore aesthetic and the slow "Ghibli-like" life it encourages.
Photography to me is as much a theraputic expression as it is my livelihood. Photographing nature, such as leaves, flowers and clouds, is one of my favorite self-soothing hobbies.
The term “wind friend” comes from my deep-rooted connection and love for the wind and the

general air element. Ask me about it, I'll get emotional.
I've been shooting mostly film for over 6 years now!
In 2019, I ran into the filmmaking work of Makoto Shinkai - my favorite director ever since. I was obsessed, in love and very inspired. His art has made a huge impact on me as a person & an artist photographer. My thesis film "Dawn" was inspired by his poetic work.
Can’t call me a gamer per se but I’m very obsessed with Genshin Impact (a proud Kazuha main since his first banner).
Not a coffee gal but a HUGE tea one — especially matcha, but also herbal tea, normal tea, bubble tea, all of it.
A little too obsessed with Japan just maybe.
I will always believe in love & kindness, in grace and gentleness — they are qualities of my own soul and approach to the world.

For my 21st birthday, I made a spontaneous decision to ditch college for a solo adventure to Beijing. No plans, no company. Just me and my accidental hike up this one mountain (ask me to tell you about it when we meet, it's funny).
❛ everything up till yesterday was a prologue ❜

I believe that through listening to the music I like, you might understand who I am a little better. You’ll feel my free spirit, admiration for culture, and passion for life. You’ll understand my intimacy towards it and towards my art…Or perhaps I’m just introducing you to my too musical life.
